U.N. High Commissioner
Human Rights has warned that the reported intention of the Boko Haram sect to sell the abducted schoolgirls of Chibok into “slavery” could constitute a crime against humanity.
The sect has reportedly kidnapped eight more girls in north-eastern Nigeria. This follows last month’s kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls.
The U.N.
Human Rights office is condemning the outrageous claims made in a video released on Monday by the alleged leader of the sect. In that video, Shekau, leader of the sect referred to the abducted schoolgirls as slaves and said he would sell them in
the market and marry them off.
UN
Human Rights spokesman Rupert Colville has warned members of the sect that they will pay a heavy price for their crimes. He said there is total prohibition against slavery and sexual slavery in the world and such actions constitute crimes against humanity
