Ghana’s World Cup Opponent USA Beat Turkey 2-1 in Pre-World Cup Friendly

Facing Ghana in Natal on June 16th in their opening game at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the United States got themselves on a perfect run by beating European side Turkey by two goals to one in a pre-World Cup friendly in front of the large fans at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey [USA].
The United States, who were playing their last but one game before the embark to Brazil, had won two of their last three friendly games.
Fullback Fabian Johnson opened the scoring in the 26th minute for the United States, after he broke forward with a darting run and was picked out over the top of the defense by Michael Bradley with a glorious ball to take it first time with inside of his boots.
US captain Clint Dempsey scored the second for his side in the 52nd minute after he took advantage of a terrible defending by the Turkish defense to tap home at his near post.
Jurgen Klinsmann's men could have scored some more goals in the game but failed to bury the numerous opportunities that came their way.
Turkey, however got a consolation goal late in the game, when they were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, which saw midfielder Selçuk İnan sending United States goalkeeper Brad Guzan the wrong way to end the game 2-1 in favor of the Yanks.
