Nairobi will be playing host to Kenyan and Africa's hottest funny-men this weekend. Visiting comedians headed by Nigeria's Basket Mouth will tonight party at various entertainment joints ahead of this year's edition of Nite of A Thousand Laughs, scheduled to take place at the Carnivore tomorrow.
The other headlining acts include Kenyan siblings Eric and Fred Omondi, Kiss 100's Chipukeezy, Funny Bone (Ghana), Patrick Salvador (Uganda), Mpho Modikoane (South Africa) and Daliso Chaponda (Malawi based in the UK).
Opa Williams the founder of the comedy night told Word Is, "Most of the comedians arrived on Thursday and the remaining ones will arrive today. They will get a feel of the Nairobi nightlife before tomorrow's show. The choice of clubs is hard to make because with Nairobi you never know there are many clubs. Nairobi is a club on it's own."
Adding, "This year's edition is different in that we have included Eric and Fred on the line up and we can now demystify the myth that has been making rounds that claim Fred writes jokes for Eric. With the duo on stage one on one, that matter will be sorted once and for all."
Nite of A Thousand Laughs is a live comedy show with its roots in Lagos, Nigeria since 1995. It has successfully undertaken 34 editions over seven cities in Africa namely Accra, Lagos, Abuja, Johannesburg, Kampala, Nairobi and Freetown. It is organised by West East Entertainment in partnership with Safaricom.
In addition to stand-up comedy, there will be performances by Dela, Scott The Violinist and DJ Delite. Advance tickets are available at selected Safaricom Shops, and on m-ticketing by dialling 151.
