Mourinho: Nigeria Will Make Next Round : Mourinho Tips Eagles, Elephant For Knockout Stage

Default
Chelsea's Manager Jose Mourinho has tipped African Champions Nigeria alongside Ivory Coast to make it out of their respective groups at the FIFA World Cup.

Mourinho made this known while answering questions as one of Yahoo’s global football ambassadors on whom he thinks will progress from the group stage at the upcoming tournament in Brazil.
In his words his backing for the African pair is in part down to close personal ties, with former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast, and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel of the Super Eagles.
Speaking on the Super Eagles who face a difficult task in group F, with Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran, Mourinho tipped Argentina to top the group.
However he insisted that Nigeria are capable of joining them in the next round.
“Argentina has to be the group winner and what makes me decide for Nigeria is the fact that I have there one player there.”
On his support for the Ivory Coast who are grouped alongside Japan, Greece and Colombia in Group C, Mourinho said:
“I’m very emotional; I go always with my friends.”
At the last World cup four years ago in South Africa both Nigeria and the Ivory Coast failed to make it out of their respective groups with Ghana the only Africa team represented in the Knockout stage.
