Turkish Teacher Given 15 Month Jail Sentence for Using “Allah” on Twitter

A teacher in Turkey has been jailed for ‘humiliating religious values’ after using the name “Allah C.C.” as his Twitter handle.

The man, Ertan P, was accused by prosecutors of  “writing harmful content for including the name of God and the Prophet,” Daily Mail reports. 

However, Ertan claims that his account was hacked. The court has rejected these claims, and sentenced him to 15 months behind bars.

C.C. is the abbreviation of the Arabic phrase ‘Celle Celaluhu‘ which means, ‘[Allah's] glory is so almighty.
