Uwajumogu: We Have Passed Bills And Motions On Youth Development

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Benjamin Uwajumogu, has said that the entire legislators in the Imo House of Assembly who are dominantly youths have usually given full legislative backing to any issues bothering on youth development to the extent the House passed several bills and motions that will enhance the advancement of the youths in the State.

The speaker who was addressing members of Okigwe Youth Network in his home town, Umuihi, Ihitte\ Uboma over the weekend said that the Imo House of Assembly members are naturally interested in the welfare and development of Imo State youths especially from the view points that Members through their various empowerment programme reached out to the youths.
He commended the youths for using the opportunity of their visit to further raise consciousness to youth’s issues and demands.
He said, “It is on this basis that the assembly decided to support the youth must work programme and also pass several youth related bills and motions such as the free education law that made education free up to the tertiary level, motion for establishment of juvenile centre in Imo to save convicted under age from further abuse,motion for immediate action to be taken to restore the accreditation of the faculty of law, Imo State University, motion to urge the universal basic education board to regularize the appointment of teachers employed as ‘’non-tutorial staff’’ to ‘’tutorial staff’’ considering the number of youths that will benefit, another motion for the establishment of skill acquisition centre in each of the 27 local government areas of the State was also passed and so many others’’.
Earlier the coordinator of the group, mr Henry Nnadozie lauded the Members of the Imo State House of Assembly, for the sincere commitment and support they have shown his Excellency the Governor through passage of bills,motions and oversights.
