AWUJALE AT 80 BOMBSHELL!......‘DIYA FRUSTRATED THE CREATION OF IJEBU STATE, BECAUSE HE WANTS ODOGBOLU TO BE CAPITAL OVER IJEBU ODE’

Few days to his May 10th grand 80th birthday,His Royal Highness, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the paramount ruler of Ijebuland and Nigeria’s longest reigning monarch,has idiomatically described Nigeria’s Former number two man , Lt.Gen. Oladipo Diya (Rtd.) as a bastard who used the left hand to describe his father house.The revered monarch,gave the impression that, Diya, as Vice Chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council of General Sani Abacha,depotic government,frustrated the creation of Ijebu State because he want Odogbolu,his home town,to be capital over Ijebu Ode.When Abacha,he created new states: Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Zamfara, Gombe and Ekiti in 1996 .Awujale said this recently at the press parley, organized to honour his 80th birthday and 54 coronation anniversary. According one of the interviews he granted over his encounter with Late Abacha,over Diya's botched coup.’Yes I did,I raised the issue of Ijebu State..And I told him that in God’s own time,we would certainly get it. Of course he took the opportunity to tell me,it was Diya who was against the creation of Ijebu State.Abacha said he oppossed it because Diya wanted the capital to come to Odogbolu,which he refused.He said it should be Ijbeu Ode'.That was how Ijebu Ode,became the only province of old Western Region that never became a state. ‘Our demands are historical, justiceable and overdue. These demands are simply hinged on the need for equity, justice and speedy development for our hardworking and productive people.'
