Restless Talent Management (RTM) recently announced its launch as the first global management company to focus on African talent.
At a time where actors and directors of African descent are resolutely grabbing the headlines in Hollywood, RTM will be focused on identifying the next Lupita Nyong’o, Chiwetel Ejiofor, or Andrew Dosunmu.
Behind RTM are veteran film producer Tendeka Matatu of Ten10 Films (GANGSTER’S PARADISE: JERUSALEMA, MATERIAL, CRAZY MONKEY, COLD HARBOR) and producer and media entrepreneur Marie Lora-Mungai of Buni Media (THE XYZ SHOW, OGAS AT THE TOP) and leading African VOD service Buni TV (www.buni.tv).
“We are witnessing the emergence of a New African Cinema,” said Lora-Mungai and Matatu. “Restless’ mission will be to nurture and support the pioneering talents who are redefining creative content both on the continent and beyond.”
Registered in the UK and with a presence both on the continent (Cape Town, Nairobi) and in the world’s largest film markets (Los Angeles, London), RTM will provide development services such as image-building and positioning, project packaging, PR, and will also advise on film sales, distribution and promotion.
Already on RTM’s roaster are directors Tosh Gitonga (Kenya, Nairobi Half Life, Kenya’s first official entry to the Academy Awards), Chika Anadu (Nigeria, 2013 AFI Breakthrough Award winner for B FOR BOY), Caroline Kamya (Uganda, winner of more than 10 Best Feature or Best Director awards for IMANI), screenwriter Kemi Adesoye (Nigeria, Shuga, The Figurine, Phone Swap), and actor OC Ukeje (Nigeria, Half Of A Yellow Sun, Confusion Na Wa).
