Distressing child ‘daddy’ cries spark police scramble – turns out to be a parrot
The parrot was squawking ‘daddy’ followed by ‘what?’
A woman called police after hearing distressing child-like cries of ‘daddy’ in her neighbourhood.
She slammed down the phone and began investigating the repeated wails for help – and was shocked to discover they were coming from a parrot.
The unidentified woman thought she heard a child screaming near a school in a Connecticut neighbourhood.
The voice warbled: ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy,’ followed by ‘what?’, giving the impression a child was talking to someone.
Emergency services arrived at the scene, only to coax Ralphie the parrot down from a 25ft tree.
He had been missing from his home which was more than a mile away.
Ralphie was rescued from the tree and returned to his owner
