Flood Renders 50 Families Homeless In Edo.

Flood waters that overflowed a drainage system have displaced more than 50 families in Orihionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, a legislator has said.
Mr. Friday Ogierhiakhi (PDP-Oriohiomwon) made this known on Tuesday in Benin, during plenary held by PDP legislators at the state House of Assembly.
He said that the flood sacked the community due to poor construction of the drainage system.
“Due to the shallow and narrow nature of the drainage system, the flood water flowed into peoples’ homes and displaced more than 50 families.”
The assembly urged the state Commissioner for Works to intervene and ensure the repair of drainage.
The assembly also urged the relevant agencies to provide relief materials to the affected families.
It constituted a three-man ad hoc committee led by Abdulrazak Momoh (PDP- Etsako West 1) to visit the community to ascertain the level of destruction.
