People take part in a No Pants Day 2014 flash mob on the London Underground. The event started in 2002 in New York.
In the UK, where the word pants refers to underwear, the event is known as 'No Trousers Day'
The madcap idea was started by Improv Everywhere, a New York City-based prank collective that causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Improv Everywhere claim to have executed over 100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents
