Last year we had the whole ‘you, the viewer, are the fifth X Factor judge, blah, blah,’ now it seems we’ve all been bumped to sixth, the question is who, oh, who could the new fifth judge be?
This year’s judging line-up will be Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh, Mel B and…?
We’ve cast our eyes into a crystal ball and here are our top 7 contenders.
Already rumoured as a hot contender, sassy Miss O has been a guest judge on The X Factor before during the audition stages so she knows the drill..
And hey, Jay Z obviously thought she had the X Factor when he signed her to his Roc Nation label and with 4 number one singles and a number one album under her belt, he was clearly right.
2. Mary J Blige
Another person riding high in the rumour stakes, who doesn’t love Mary? She came across brilliantly last year when she leant her wisdom at Judge’s Houses and with over 50 million record sales and nine Grammy Awards under her belt, there’s no denying that she certainly knows her stuff when it comes to the record industry.
Anyone who had Mary in their corner would certainly be very lucky.
3. Robbie Williams
The charismatic Angels singer is no stranger to The X Factor having been a frequent guest mentor and performer over the years. However, with wife Ayeda currently pregnant with the pair’s second child, could timing be an issue?
4. Olly Murs
He has been a contestant on the show, a presenter on sister show Xtra Factor and been a guest mentor at Judge’s Houses, so a full-time judging role would surely be the next step for hat-loving Ols.
Imagine all the cheeky banter that he and his self-confessed crush Chezza could have on the panel together, Louis needn’t be having to worry about ducking from glasses of water being thrown at him for once.
5. Caroline Flack
Everyone was shocked when leggy Cazza dramatically announced her exit from Xtra Factor, especially when only last year her role was increased to include backstage coverage on the main X Factor show.
This would be the ultimate Wild Card.
6. Steve Brookstein
Did we say Caroline Flack would be the ultimate Wild Card? Sorry, that would have to be Steve Brookstein. He won the original series way back in 2004, but swiftly fell out with Simon Cowell and has since become the show’s unofficial viewers’ figures keeper.
Well, Cheryl and Simon fell out quite dramatically, but that now all seems to be water under the bridge. Could this be the year of the olive branch? And who better to lead an army of underdogs in the wildcard category than Steve, who Against All Odds, has continued to make music.
7. Harry Hill
Quite possibly the biggest X Factor fan on the planet – hey, he did write a west end musical about it after all, comedian Harry would certainly bring the fun factor.
Also, considering their ‘similar’ dress-sense, could he and Si challenge Mel and Chezza in the weekly frock-off debate?
